A year ago today, we met a dog in our driveway…. we had heard him crying throughout the night, and were surprised that he was still in our yard the next morning. After spending the morning hours on facebook asking people what we should do (take him to a vet to see if he has a microchip, put a listing on pet FBI, call the humane society, post a found alert on craigslist, etc) we started falling in love with the dog. “What’s his name?” I asked Adam. We both thought we’d be spending only a couple hours with him and Adam was thinking his folks were probably wondering, Oh brother where art thou? so he replied with “Clooney.” A year later, this guy has made two humans who were totally not ready for a dog, so very happy. We are excited to come home, snuggle, give and get kisses and see the world through his puppy dog eyes. So that was the unexpected part of last July..jpg)
Exactly a year after their wedding. We met early in the morning to document Katie and Bobby’s first anniversary. I love this session, the quietness of Sunday morning and the air was still cool. Katie and Bobby glowing in the rays of sunlight and that dress. Ah!

These faces might look familiar. We’ve only been friends for a bit over 3 months, but we’ve spent more time with these people than anyone else in this past season. I blogged about Old Slate one other time (view it here). This is from Sunday afternoon, we spent it coworking on the farm. Some people harvested chamomile, cornflower and calendula. Others did work around the farm or something they brought along to do. We ended with a picnic. Katie was a beast and chopped whole chicken in to proper pieces, Brad grilled it outside and then we feasted. They raised these chickens! At the end of the night, Katie harvested some flowers with medicinal uses for Aniko to take to a market, she has a whole line of products made from herbs and plants. Thank you for always opening your home to us, we adore you.

Loved the way that Jennie and Jon incorporated one of their favorite things- books into so many details on their wedding day. They’re clever with words, they’ve got great style and in their vows they promised to be more decisive about what they want for dinner! View full post »

You captured the day beautifully. <3

“you are honest to a fault. a good friend to anyone who wants one. you are not afraid to speak your mind. you love adventures, beautiful things, and most of all me. you are also really, really, really good looking” from bryon to his bride during their ceremony on a very hot june day last summer. we were so grateful that in the midst of a very rainy month, we got sunshine after a morning of ominous clouds. bryon and lauren love good food and wine, their group of friends and most of all each other. it was an honor to be a part of their day.

It’s hard to find the words to describe a day as enormous as a wedding. I’m not going to let that keep me from sharing more photos on my blog this year. Sit back and enjoy the wedding day of Anna and Miguel. It took place on her parent’s homestead. Miguel wanted to wear a navy suit. They incorporated some favorite things like sparkly gold alongside nautical stripes, peonies and pellegrino. Anna suprised Miguel by reading her vows in Afrikaans (he’s from South Africa, so this was an incredible surprise). Believe me, nobody was without chills and tears. It was a powerful moment. Miguel’s dad stood up there with him in the bridal party. There’s something wonderful about being in a place where family is so valued, I loved capturing kisses between Anna’s parents and also her grandparents throughout the day. I hope you feel what I felt as I took these photos as you scroll through them.
